Invitation To Experience The Healing Power Of Myth In Paul Rebillot’s Residential Experiential Personal Development Workshop ‘Dancing With The Gods’

June 22nd – 28th 2024 at Slí an Chroí, Kiltegan, Co. Wicklow.

Facilitated by The Fool’s Dance Gestalt Company – Paul Rebillot group in Ireland.

There can't be many Irish people who are not familiar with at least a few stories from Celtic mythology - the sad fate of the Children of Lir, perhaps, or the heroic exploits of Fionn and the Fianna. Classical Greek myths have also found a place in our collective consciousness as shown, for example, by our use of the adjective 'Herculean' for a particularly demanding task - a reference

to the twelve near-impossible Labours of Hercules. Even some myths from less-familiar cultures are now quite well-known in the West - among them the Sumerian saga of Inanna (Goddess of love, fertility .... and war) journeying to the Land of the Dead to visit its Queen, her vengeful twin sister Ereshkigal or the story of how the Egyptian Goddess Isis found, reunited and reanimated the scattered remains of Osiris, her murdered husband.

That these ancient stories have so tenaciously survived into our own time suggests that they express deep truths about the human condition

Is there a myth or legend that fascinates you, haunts you or strongly draws you in? If so, it is probably because your unconscious recognises that there is a lesson within that story that you need to learn. 'Dancing with the Gods' invites you to bring that myth - or legend or folk tale with a strong supernatural element - to the workshop.  We will use a variety of creative approaches - including dramatisation, movement, art, music, ritual, meditation and Gestalt Process - to help you discover the deep meaning that this tale holds for you.  You will explore your personal world of mythology, not from the point of view of academic or aesthetic interest, but because it can serve as a reservoir of healing energy for yourself and for the world that you live in. No previous experience of drama or Gestalt Process is required.

What previous participants have said about their experience of this workshop:

You are invited to participate in a research project entitled ‘Psychotherapists experiences of working with perinatal mental health in Ireland’, as part of my Masters in Psychotherapy at Dublin City University.

The aim of this research is to gain understanding into how accredited psychotherapists practicing in Ireland are engaging with women who are experiencing perinatal mental health problems (PMHP). These include a variety of mental health issues that arise for women during pregnancy and the first year after birth and are suitable for psychotherapeutic treatment. This research hopes to explore how women with PMHP present in the therapy room, the types of approaches or interventions used or recommended by psychotherapists and any barriers and supports experienced by this client group as reported by their psychotherapists.

You are eligible to participate in this study if you are an accredited psychotherapist working in Ireland who has experience working with women with perinatal mental health problems over the last ten years.

You will be invited to take part in an interview lasting approximately one hour either online, over the phone or face to face. Your participation in this study is completely voluntary.

If you would like to learn more about this study, please contact me on mary.maguire52@mail.dcu.ie and please feel free to share this information with your professional network.

The Institute of Emotion-Focused Therapy Ireland presents

“Emotion Focused Skills Training (EFST) for Parents and Caregivers”

    A four-day workshop for clinicians

Presented by Anne Hilde Vassbø Hagen and Vanja Hjelmseth

Marino Institute of Education, Marino, Dublin Monday 17th – Thursday 20th June, 2024, 10am-5pm

Cost: €875 (€800 early bird fees paid in full by 10/05/2024).

This workshop is open to all relevant mental health professionals working with children and their parents or caregivers (e.g., psychology, psychotherapy, social care, social work, occupational therapy, teaching, nursing and medicine).

This training gives a complete overview of the theory, practice, and research of an emotion centered, humanistic approach to supporting parents (and caregivers) of individuals who struggle with any mental health challenge. Emotion Focused Skills Training (EFST) conveys an unyielding belief in caregiver’s motivation and ability to heal the caregiver-child relationship and help their child (young, adolescent, or adult child) through their struggles. Drawing on the most current understanding of emotions and human development, the model clearly outlines a central role for parents and caregivers in treating and preventing mental health difficulties in their families and care environments. The training of EFST clinicians is practically oriented and experience-based, which means that participants learn specific skills in how to supervise parents and give parent workshops. Participants will get all the material needed to deliver parent/caregiver workshops and individual counseling sessions.

Anne Hilde Vassbø Hagen is a psychologist, author, mother of three, and filmmaker who produced the popular educational film series Alfred & Shadow. She is head of the Institute of Psychological Counseling, Inc., in Norway, and the director of The Norwegian Institute of Emotion-Focused Therapy. She has written several books in Norwegian about emotions. She is co-author of two English books; Emotion-Focused Skills Training for Parents: A Guide for Clinicians and Angry kids, Angry Parents – Understanding and Working with Anger in Your Family. She is an experienced trainer, speaker, and therapist in emotion focused therapy and emotion focused skills training for parents and is also trained in emotion focused couple’s therapy.

Vanja Hjelmseth is a psychologist, author, and mother of two teens. She is an experienced speaker, and therapist in emotion focused therapy and emotion focused skills training for parents and is also trained in emotion focused couple’s therapy.
