Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP)

The Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP) is the national umbrella body for Psychotherapy in Ireland and a not-for-profit organisation. ICP is a member of the European Association for Psychotherapy (EAP). It is also the national organisation responsible for awarding psychotherapists with the European Certificate of Psychotherapy (ECP) in Ireland.

The ICP works on behalf of its member sections and organisations. These are the professional psychotherapy organisations that train, accredit and reaccredit individual psychotherapists working to particular modalities:

  • Family Therapy Association of Ireland (FTAI)
  • The Irish Association of Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP)
  • The Association for Psychoanalysis & Psychotherapy in Ireland (APPI)
  • Irish Analytical Psychology Association (IAPA)
  • Irish Forum for Child & Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (IFCAPP)
  • Irish Forum for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (IFPP)
  • Irish Group Analytic Society (IGAS)
  • Irish Psycho-Analytical Association (IPAA)
  • Northern Ireland Institute of Human Relations (NIIHR)
  • Association of Child Art Psychotherapists (ACAP)

ICP Registration

IAHIP Accredited Members can register with ICP once they have paid their IAHIP yearly membership fee. 

To register, simply pay the registration fee online. You can pay the 2026 fee here.

Once your payment is received, IAHIP will handle the processing and issue a receipt on behalf of ICP. The information of new/renewed registrants is then sent to ICP on a monthly basis.
