Accreditation with IAHIP will associate you with the gold standard of psychotherapy training, experience and ethical practice in Ireland & Europe. As such, there is a robust set of criteria to ensure eligibility.

Accreditation criteria were updated in 2024 and 2025 to support both students of IAHIP Recognised Training Courses and experienced clinicians.

APPLICATION

Once you have read the criteria and have satisfied yourself that you meet the criteria you can start your application online through our Applications Portal.

As well as completing an online application form you need to read and assimilate the IAHIP Code of Ethics for Psychotherapists. IAHIP members are required to adhere to the Code of Ethics, the purpose of which is to establish and maintain robust standards for psychotherapists who are accredited members of IAHIP and to inform and protect members of the public seeking and using their services.

The Accreditation Application fee is €200 and this fee is separate to the annual membership fee. You can view more details on the fees here.

Timeframes

Once your application is submitted online, the IAHIP office team will line everything up for your supervisor(s) to review and complete all relevant Supervisor Report(s).

Your supervisor(s) will need to log into the applications portal and complete an 'Action Task' to review and complete the Supervisor Report. The IAHIP office team can assist your supervisor in navigating the portal.

Once your Supervisor has completed the report and clicked the Submit button at the end, you will have an opportunity to review your supervisor report. You will need to accept the report in the portal before your application is passed on to the Accreditation Committee for review.

As IAHIP is a volunteer based organisation, the application process can take up to 6 months, however the current average is 3 months.

Applications from Non-Recognised Training Courses can take longer to process due to the additional checks required with these applications.
