Monday October 20th at 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM Irish Time - Takes Place Via Zoom with The Perinatal Mental Health Institute
Includes Certificate of Attendance, Access to Recorded Version and All Resources Mentioned in the Training
Why This Training Matters
LGBTQ+ parents face significantly higher risk for depression, anxiety, and trauma during the transition to parenthood—not because of who they are, but because of systemic stigma, discrimination, and gaps in healthcare delivery. This 90-minute training provides evidence-based strategies and practical tools to help those supporting LGBTQ+ families deliver truly affirming and inclusive care that builds trust and improves outcomes.
Mental Health professionals who support clients in the transition to parenthood have a unique and powerful opportunity to shape positive experiences for LGBTQ+ individuals during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. This training bridges the gap between awareness and action, enhancing your ability to create welcoming environments and provide competent care for diverse family structures. You'll gain deep understanding of the specific challenges LGBTQ+ families face while also learning about their unique strengths and resilience.
What You'll Learn:
• Understanding unique challenges and strengths of LGBTQ+ communities in perinatal care
• Practical strategies for using inclusive language and adapting clinical forms
• How to integrate chosen family and diverse support systems into care plans
• Recognizing and addressing microaggressions in healthcare settings
