Research Title:
Counsellors’ and Psychotherapists’ experiences of Dual and Multiple relationships within their local communities in Ireland - a narrative analysis.
‘Dual and multiple relationships occur whenever one person assumes more than one role in a relationship with another person’ (Syme, 2006, p. 57).Practical examples of dual relationships include when the counsellor or psychotherapist may encounter their clients as members of their church, in a social setting such as club members or availing of a local service such as G.P. , gym or beauticians/ hairdressers. Multiple relationships exist when Counsellors and Psychotherapists hold a number of these relationships with their client and this can also include relationships relating to their family members and those of their clients.
I are looking for participants who:
- Are accredited Counsellors and Psychotherapists
- Are currently working as Counsellors and Psychotherapists within their local communities in Ireland.
- Are willing to share their stories of their experiences of dual and multiple relationships within their local communities in an interview lasting 60-90 minutes.
Your stories of your experiences are important to me, and I am inviting you to take part in this research study. I want to hear stories about the following:
- Your experiences of dual and multiple relationships with your clients and the nature of them.
- How these relationships impact you.
- What strategies you use in managing dual or multiple relationships.
If you are willing to take part in an interview either in person or on Zoom I would be delighted to hear from you. For further information contact Evelyn Waters, (M.A, M.SC.
