Introduction to Perinatal Mental Health (7 CDP Credits)

Are you interested in knowing more about the impact of the transition to parenthood on our mental health? Perhaps you are seeing more parents showing up in your office? Or would like to provide more knowledgeable care to your perinatal clients? Maybe you are working with mothers, partners and parents in the transition to parenthood and want more information about how to support them. There is such a desperate need for well-trained providers who can support the perinatal period and this full day training is a great way to fill your toolbox! No previous perinatal experience needed.

The Perinatal Mental Health Institute is delighted to offer afull day (9am to 5pm), 7 CPD, online training providing a board scope of understanding of the mental health challenges that can arise through the perinatal period (conception through 1 year postpartum). Following completion of the course learners will be able to demonstrate a clear and confident understanding of:

  • The scope of the perinatal period.
  • A clear understanding of healthy Matrescence.
  • An ability to recognize Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) and their symptomology and be able to differentiate between different PMADs; including Baby Blues, Anxiety, Depression, OCD, Psychosis, Mania, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Adjustment Disorder.
  • Suicidality within the perinatal period
  • Mental health challenges in partners during the perinatal period.
  • Risk and protective factors associated with the development of mental health complications within the perinatal period.
  • Awareness of evidence based screening tools and assessments in the perinatal period.
  • Prevalence, risk factors, symptoms and common presentations of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders
  • Competency in the application of learned skills through peer consultation and case studies

This course has been internationally recognized for 7 CDP credits through the CPD Standards Office and is an approved training with Postpartum Support International

Course Structure

  • The training takes place via Zoom on January 13th, 2025 from 9am to 5pm with the following schedule:

9am to 10:30am – Introduction and Matrescence

10:30am- 10:45am – Coffee Break

10:45am to 12:30pm – Perinatal Anxiety and Depression

12:30pm-1:30pm – Lunch

1:30pm to 3pm – Perinatal Trauma, Mania and Psychosis

3pm – 3:15pm – Coffee Break

3:15pm to 5pm – Special Considerations, Effective Screening and Case Studies

  • This course is limited to 20 participants to promote an intimate learning environment that ensures community building and deep understanding.
  • Cost is €99
  • Participants receive 7 CPD credits with a certificate at the end of the course

About the Instructor:

Rebecca Reddin is the Founder of The Perinatal Mental Health Institute. As a PSI Chartered Psychologist and Certified Perinatal Mental Health Specialist with Postpartum Support International, she is passionate about the creating in-depth, powerful, and evidence based trainings that explored the complexities of the transition to parenthood; including everything from the expected clunkiness of Matrescence, to the intense impact of PMADs and everything in between. Rebecca has been working with the perinatal population since 2010 in both impatient and private practice settings and has a wealth of knowledge on how to care for this population. Rebecca received similar training in the US and is excited to bring this depth of training here. Rebecca has provided digital and in person trainings for small groups, families, mental health professionals and Fortune 500 companies through her role as a Psychology Specialist and Trainer throughout her career.
