Stay Right by Martina Boland

Don’t go,
Before the Moon shows itself to you,
And transforms that vast great Darkness
Into Light.
Even though Thought deserts You
And Feelings crush You,
And Shame makes you cringe in the Light
Stay
Even though Waiting weighs every Pound of Pain,
Stay
There is a Symphony all around You,
Underneath the Shadows,
Where Tears dance with a Symmetry
That is Natural and True
And Right
Stay Right.

This poem was partly inspired by Ennio Morricone’s beautiful ‘The Sicilian Clan’ at the time of writing. Thanks to Deirdre Collins, Ann O’Duffy, Sean Boylan, and Darina Davis.
