All IAHIP accredited psychotherapists are fully qualified and experienced practitioners. In order to be accredited, therapists must have completed a comprehensive course of training as well as a minimum of 600 hours of supervised practice.

Dermod is a psychotherapist in Dublin, and holds a 2004 Master's Degree in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy from the University of East London. A Dubliner, he lived in London for 13 years, returning in 2006.

He was a member of the psychotherapy team in Liberties Counselling from 2006 till 2014, funded by the Family Support Agency, for residents of the South Inner City. It closed its doors in Meath Street in 2014 due to budget cuts.

He is currently in private practice as a psychotherapist and supervisor at 6 Capel Street, just across the bridge from Temple Bar in the city centre. He works with both individuals and couples. He also runs occasional courses and workshops.

He is accredited with the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP), and is a registered psychotherapist with both the Irish Council for Psychotherapy and the UK Council for Psychotherapy. He completed a training as a supervisor in 2014.

A former actor and teacher of Speech and Drama, he enjoys working with those struggling with creative issues. He has worked in an alcohol agency for 3 years in East London, and has a particular interest in helping to uncover what is going on behind an addictive pattern.

He wrote for Hot Press magazine for 18 years, and has written extensively on relationships, sex and sexuality. He teaches (with Trish Murphy and Sharon Travers) a course for psychotherapists on how to work with sexuality and gender issues with clients.)

He loves teaching, and was a lecturer and tutor at Liz Greene's CPA in London for many years. He has taught at Liberties College, Marino College, and Turning Point in Dun Laoghaire.

He teaches at the Dublin Business School and at the Tivoli Institute. He is also a trainer at the Psychosynthesis Trust in London, teaching the "Sexuality and Gender" modules to trainee therapists at PGDip level.

He is on the steering group of the Irish network of psychosynthesis practitioners. He was chairman of IAHIP from 2014-2016.
