The Social and Health Education Project Ltd (SHEP) is a unique, community-based training and development organisation.  With funding from a large number of donors, including the HSE, we deliver a large number of programmes and services, including our Low-cost Counselling Programme – Coiscéim. In order to support the further development of the counselling programme, applications are now invited for the following part-time positions based at SHEP’s main office and training centre in Ballintemple, Cork:

Coiscéim Referral Counsellor & Outreach Officer
3 or 4 days per week (or equivalent)
Two-year fixed term contract

 

Multicultural Programme Outreach Counsellor & Development Officer
1 or 1.5 days per week (or equivalent)
Two-year fixed term contract

Job description

Counselling assessment of service users (including young people); liaison with counsellors on counselling panel; matching and referral of service users and follow up; linking with community organisations seeking counselling supports; reporting.

 Person Specification

We are looking for a fully accredited member of IACP and/or IAHIP (or another equivalent accrediting body) with: a minimum of 4 years’ post counselling/psychotherapy qualification experience; excellent interpersonal skills; strong organisational skills; and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The following would be advantageous: Having worked with people experiencing disadvantage, previous experience of working in a counselling service; experience of providing counselling support children/young people; experience of project coordination; experience of linking with community groups, agencies and donors.

Salary

€25,879 (for three days per week, based on €43,132 for a full-time position)

Multicultural Programme Outreach Counsellor

Job description

Coordination this new pilot initiative: design of project activities; liaison with local stakeholders  and funders;  assessment and referral of service users; liaison with counsellors.

 Person Specification

We are looking for a fully accredited member of IACP and/or IAHIP with: a minimum of 4 years’ post counselling/psychotherapy qualification experience; experience of working with new communities and immigrants; excellent interpersonal skills; strong organisational skills; and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The following would be advantageous: experience of working with asylum seekers and/or refugees, previous experience of working in a counselling service; experience of project coordination; ability to provide counselling in a second language, experience of training and development; experience of linking with community groups, agencies and donors.

 

Salary

€12,939  – 1.5 days per week equivalent (based on €43,132 for a full-time position)
