Pandemic:  Crisis Fatigue and Mental Health

Guiding and supporting clients through crisis, uncertainty and difficulty.

12-hour online live training | €95

Learn about the stages of Crisis Fatigue (Harvard Medical School) and stay up to date with the latest COVID-19 psychological interventions. Develop skills from CBT, ACT, DBT, Resilience, Compassion-Based Approaches, Positive Psychology and Neuroscience that will get results and positive outcomes.

In addition to its staggering impact on physical well-being and mortality, COVID-19 and the pandemic-related restrictions are taking an overwhelming toll on our mental and wellbeing (Galea, Merchant & Lurie, 2020; Fiorillo & Gorwood, 2020).  Numerous studies over the last nine months have shown global increases in the prevalence of issues relating to mental health including severity of depression, anxiety, insomnia, substance abuse and post-traumatic stress.

Join a group of mental health professionals and counsellors for a unique 12-hour training with weekly three-hour live meetings and develop essential skills in supporting and resourcing clients to remain calm, connected, and responsive during these difficult times.

Learn to:

Support your clients to recognise and manage the different stages of crisis fatigue and pandemic-related stress.

Develop skills to explore the relationship between pandemic-related stress factors (PRSF) and anxiety.

Support the daily challenges experienced by Frontline healthcare workers including anxieties relating to increased infection risk, the impact of working with COVID-19, and the concerns about passing the coronavirus to family members (Greenberg, Docherty, & Wessely, 2020).

Explore and integrative five principles for wellbeing and resilience during times of crisis and uncertainty.

Understand and respond to health anxiety, overwhelming feelings of anxiety, loss of control, and intense emotions during a pandemic.

Utilise evidence-based interventions to enhance psychological wellbeing by supporting your clients to develop positive habits of mind to enhance mood positively.

Support clients to maintain structure, routine, relationships and mood while self-isolating and staying indoors.

Teach your clients coping skills, self-compassion and key skills from CBT-i and pandemic-related insomnia.  Practical strategies to overcome sleep dysregulation triggered by interruption, lack of structure and working from home.

Deepen your understanding of neuroscience, the evolutionary brain and Buddhist psychology to make sense of the responsive and reactionary instincts that take place during a crisis.

Explore, adapt, and respond to issues presented by our clients including insomnia, exhaustion, vulnerability, existential concerns, anticipatory grief, anxiety, loss of freedom, helplessness, and trauma.

Develop relational skills for adapting to online and telephone counselling and helping to resource your clients during the uncertainty of lockdown and social distancing. Integrate guidance and resources for delivering treatment remotely during the coronavirus pandemic.  Enhance the therapeutic space between therapist and client as we adapt and respond to online therapy.

Receive weekly notes and exercises to share with clients and activities that support self-care, self-reflection and self-practice to remain calm, connected and present.

Feedback from previous course: June 2020

I would recommend this training to colleagues or mental health professionals:  96.15% strongly agreed that they would recommend this training to colleagues or mental health professionals, 3.85% agreed.

An incredible and robust training experience – embedded within an extremely well researched framework – providing current real-time data and surveys, opportunity for interactive groups and discussion on interesting case studies.  I was blown away by the breath and scope of this training which delivered therapeutic resources and skills in compassionate, generous, learned and humble manner.  It was my first time to participate on one of Gerry Cunningham’s training programmes and I feel most grateful for the experienced and learning it offered.

Your understanding of the process of psychotherapy, your expansive knowledge of theory and the integration of same into your model and the generous sharing of this on this course has been inspiring and received with huge gratitude.   Thank you, your hard work is evident.   You simplified what is very complex in the resources, tools and methods of delivery you used, keeping my attention and interest and eager for more.  I have already recommended your course to others.

Weekly three-hour meetings via Zoom with live seminar, training, interaction, and discussion. Total 12 hours, including training, certificate, notes/resources.

Thursday afternoon from 3.30pm to 6.30pm, 7, 14, 21, 28 January 2021.
