One-Day Workshop – Legal Issues for Psychotherapists

TO: All IAHIP Colleagues, Members, Honorary Members, Certified Associate, Pre-accredited Associate, and Student Associate Members.

A FREE workshop sponsored by the Una Maguire Educational Fund for all IAHIP members.

The Una Maguire Educational Fund was launched at the IAHIP AGM in March 2019 in Galway. The purpose of this fund is to provide Education and Learning opportunities for the members of IAHIP.

Our first workshop, which will be presented by Seamus Clarke SC, BCL (NUI), BCL (Oxon), SC (Senior Counsel) and is entitled Legal Issues for Psychotherapists.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at this free workshop.

This Workshop will consider a number of key legislative issues and will include some of the following:

–       Mandatory Reporting

–       Children First Act 2015 (fully operational from 11th December 2017)

–       Disclosure of Counselling records

–       Confidentiality of Sessions – disclosure of Notes

–       Data Protection (GDPR)

–       Supervisor / Supervisee: The Responsibility of the Supervisor

–       The function of your Records – case notes and management of records

 Speaker:- Seamus Clarke SC, BCL (NUI), BCL (Oxon), Senior Counsel

 Seamus has a Bachelor Degree in Civil Law (International) from University College Dublin and De Paul University, Chicago. He has a Masters in European and Comparative Law from the University of Oxford and holds a Barrister-at-Law Degree from the Honourable Society of Kings Inns Dublin.

 He has a general practice at the bar specializing in the areas of Commercial Law, Employment Law, and Criminal Law. He lectures in a number of Institutions in EU Law, IT law and Criminal Law and is an Adjunct Professor in International Intellectual Property Law for the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

 Seamus has given courses to a variety of groups including many Counsellors & Medico-Legal Professionals.
