I am writing to invite your participation in my research project entitled:
An exploration of the psychotherapist’s humanistic/integrative holding in the therapy room of the adult child as he/she witnesses prolonged end-of-life of a parent.
I am a final year student completing a master’s degree programme in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy at Turning Point Institute (validated by UCC) which requires completion of a research study related to psychotherapy. This researcher has chosen to explore the psychotherapist’s experiences of working with adult children who have witnessed an elderly parent in a prolonged/protracted end-of-life stage. There is scant research on this topic to date – yet it is a growing phenomenon. You will be asked about your experience of working with adult children of parents at prolonged end-of-life and what challenges you encountered in relation to this work. Your experience will add to the understanding of how the adult child is affected by this protracted end-of-life state of elderly parents; it may also inform how best to support these clients at this vulnerable time through psychotherapy.
If you are an accredited, practicing, humanistic or humanistic/integrative psychotherapist with a minimum of two years post qualifying experience, who has experience of working with adult children of parents at prolonged end-of-life I would be grateful if you would consider participating in my research.
If you fit the criteria and would like to take part in this study you will be invited to participate in an hour-long interview with the researcher at a mutually convenient time and place in the coming weeks. If you are interested in taking part and would like further information about the study, please contact me at email@example.com
Thank you for taking the time to read this invitation.
