Invitation to participate in a research study

My name is Sheila Crowley and I am a final year student of the MA in Psychotherapy delivered by Dublin Business School (DBS) and accredited by IAHIP. As part of the programme I am required to complete a research study relating to psychotherapy. I am writing to invite retired psychotherapists to participate in my research project. The title of my study is: The push and pull factors that drive the decision to retire: An exploration of how older therapists feel about their retirement.

Retirement can be identified as a major life change. Retirement then from psychotherapy, because of its relational nature can be considered profound. The aim of this research is to explore how psychotherapists make sense of their experience of retirement. This is a much neglected area of psychotherapy, particularly in an Irish context and so your experiences are most welcome.

The inclusion criteria for the potential participants of my study are:

· You will be recently retired Psychotherapists (within the last 2 years)

· You will have been accredited by one or more of IAHIP, ICP, IACP

Please contact me should you require further information; you can email me at 10351134@mydbs.ie, or phone on the number below. Please note that this research is being carried out under the supervision of Dr. Gráinne Donohue Ph.D., MA (Psych) from Dublin Business School. Should you have any queries or concerns regarding this study she can be contacted by email at grainne.donohue@dbs.ie

In the current circumstances, I invite you to take part in the interview either online or over the phone. Please be assured that in line with GDPR requirements, any personal information will be kept in the strictest confidence and your participation will be anonymised throughout.

I look forward hopefully to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Sheila Crowley
