Moving Awareness: Somatisation of Transference and Counter-Transference
Facilitator: Bernadette Divilly
Moving Awareness practice through the use of Contemplative Dance and Authentic Movement practice provides therapists in supervision with a route to understanding how we metabolize our own internal states and those of our clients through the body awareness and action. It’s a gentle way to cultivate presence and to explore somatic counter-transference.
In this experiential workshop, participants will be introduced to the Contemplative Dance Practice (www.barbaradilley.com) translated by Dance Movement Psychotherapist Bernadette Divilly to explore the supervision process within psychotherapy and some of the witnessing principles of authentic movement.
Contemplative Dance Practice (CDP) mingles the discipline of meditation and improvisation in a simple structure using personal awareness practice, open space and discussion/ reflection time. Participants will practice tracking kinesthetic delight and cultivating awareness while engaging with the four pillars of mindful movement practices. The intention is to apply the CDP model to support supervision as an interactive field. Attention will be directed toward client care as the core activator of the movement process. This workshop is focused on being a support to the supervision processes and not as supervision. Its primary purpose will be to welcome and be with the unknown kindly. This workshop is suitable for experienced supervisors and professionals who are engaging with supervision in a variety of contexts.
Participants are asked to wear loose fitting clothes (for the movement) and please bring a yoga mat/blanket and a pillow/cushion.

Mary also played a vital role as an instigator in the growth and management of a Suicide Prevention Page on a Social Networking Site.
Immediately whilst growing this page it became very obvious how society was changing and the mediums through which we were communicate was also changing. Mary, at that time, felt she had to tap deeper into her senses as she did not have the sense of sound and sight while working with, at times, very distraught people. To her amazement it worked, she was connecting with people at a very deep level. The Suicide Prevention Page was thriving and growing which also gave Mary the deep knowing that this work was for her and that she was capable of being with and managing it. This she has done by holding clear ethical boundaries and by being a loving witness. Mary managed the workings of the page which was open 20 hours a day and also, she Managed and provided educative workshops for the 25-30 team administrators. Mary is passionate about people and about their empowerment, she believes so many of us can give our power away too easily. Mary has a deep belief in the equality of the human being and will go to great lengths to support groups who have been marginalized in today’s world. Mary’s Journey has been a very Gracious, humbling one laden with gifts of the heart. She takes a warm, compassionate and holistic approach while ‘being with’ her clients and their personal challenges. Mary provides a safe, non-judgemental space enabling the client to begin to explore what is happening for them. Mary looks forward to being your witness as you courageously begin your journey towards healing and peace of mind.
Donijka holds BSc in honours psychology and a post-graduate diploma in counselling and psychotherapy. In addition, Donijka also has experience within the field of online support, through her previous voluntary work with an Irish based suicide prevention website.
Donijka runs her own private practice in Castlerea Co. Roscommon and is also a group facilitator for mindfulness courses and workshops in her local area.
Donijka believes in a multidisciplinary approach to wellbeing, incorporating in addition to personal work, diet, exercise, writing/journaling, artistic expression and a reconnecting with the self through nature.
Her interests in relation to the field of psychotherapy include mindfulness and increased self-awareness, the impact of unresolved grief, the physical symptoms of emotional pain, the legacy of wounding handed down through generations, the impact of the “ripple effect” when one person decides to change, the impact of power and its loss and misuse.
Donijkas belief that support should be available to those in need regardless of their position, geographic, emotional or financial, made online counselling with the IOCPS a natural progression.
