What is EFT?
EFT was developed by award winning Dr. Sue Johnson in the 1980’s. Sue was recently awarded the Order of Canada, the highest civilian award given by the Canadian Government for Outstanding Achievement, Dedication to the Community and Service to the Nation.
The EFT model is based on Attachment Theory, the Science of Love and Emotions and Humanistic Psychology. It is developed from over 30 years of research into human bonding.
EFT helps couples move from relational distress and disconnection to safer, more loving relationships.
What is the EFT Externship?
It is the initial four-day training in EFT and a pre-requisite for other EFT trainings. It includes an overview of all aspects of the model including steps and stages, interventions, adult attachment theory and application of EFT with couples.
The Externship is taught with a variety of teaching methods including lectures, interactive discussions, role plays, video demonstrations and live session consultations.
During the Externship you will learn to:
- See marital distress from an attachment perspective
- Identify the basic stages and steps of EFT
- Help partners reprocess the emotional responses that maintain marital distress
- Shape key new interaction and bonding events
- Help couples repair attachment injuries, fostering healing within and between the couple
