Job Description

Job Title: Clinical Placement CoOrdinator (CPCO)

Reports to: ICPPD Academic Director or Designate

Location: Athlone/Galway/Dublin as agreed with ICPPD

Job Specific: Responsibilities in addition to tutoring role


Overall Purpose of Job

ICPPD supports trainee counsellors/psychotherapists on a physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual and behavioural level - Respect, integrity, inclusivity and professional and ethical behaviour underpin and support this philosophy.

The Clinical Placement Co-Ordinator is responsible for the overall delivery and administration of the Clinical Placement module. The CPCO provides holistic support to ICPPD trainee counsellors/psychotherapists and maintains regular contact with trainees to offer clarity and encouragement. CPCO’s are also available to offer emergency supervision when required.

The Clinical Placement Co-Ordinator at ICPPD also facilitates Group In-House Supervision sessions in alignment with IACP requirements.

CPCOs are required to support ICPPD’s mission statement, ethos and philosophy in their interaction with trainee counsellors/psychotherapists, other college staff and when meeting the public as a representative of ICPPD.

CPCOs are assigned to a particular area within the College and report to the Academic Director. CPCOs are required to co-operate with the quality management policies and procedures outlined in the ICPPD Quality Manual and operate within the specified ICPPD academic structures.

CPCO’s are employed on a part time/temporary contract capacity by ICPPD, and are selected based on their qualifications, professional experience and person-related skills.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Delivery of class content and advisory sessions.
  • Provision of feedback to trainee counsellors/psychotherapists, relevant College staff, and appropriate placement organisations’ representatives.
  • Administration of client placement, including the storage of confidential client notes/files (in accordance with the ICPPD’s record management policies).
  • Monitoring trainee counsellors/psychotherapists client work and supervised work.
  • Conduct of site-visits to counselling venues/placement organisations.
  • Collation of all reports: to include monitoring external supervision log, personal therapy log, and provision of feedback on trainees’ development as counsellors/psychotherapists.
  • Manage clinical placement assessments and completion of clinical placement feedback sheets.
