EDITORIAL

Welcome to the Summer 2015 issue of Inside Out – we trust that you will find much here that will engage and inspire you. The diverse interests of our IAHIP membership and readers are reflected within these pages, including poetry, imagery, observations on spirituality, on dying, on retirement, on changes within our psychotherapy organisations, and on different forms of therapeutic engagement as psychotherapist and as client.

In our editorial this time last year, we expressed concern that we were not receiving enough contributions and we shared with you the real possibility that we would have to reduce our journal to two issues per year rather than three. Since that time, you, our readers, have put pen to paper in greater numbers, and it has been a pleasure to see articles, poems and reviews arriving in to us more regularly throughout the year. We invite more of you to be involved in Inside Out and to actively consider what you might like to express and share within these pages. As editors, we are keen to support you in your creativity and we aim to be inclusive and supportive of different voices and forms of expression. As the journal for IAHIP we also want to represent the breadth of what is involved in humanistic, integrative practice – the fullness of what we encounter as we experience life, growth, trauma, death and rebirth, in ourselves, and as we journey with our clients. We are also aware of the need to refresh and inspire our spirits in this work – and we invite you to offer inspiration in whatever form feels right for you, including photographs, quotes, drawings, poetry and prose, as well as theoretical articles.

In this issue we are saying farewell to Shirley Ward, who recently stepped down from the editorial team. Shirley will be well-known to most of our readers, having been a contributor to the journal since the 1990s and an editor since the rebirthing of the journal in 2003. We are grateful for the wisdom, creativity and compassion Shirley brought to her work with Inside Out over the years.

We are also delighted to welcome Ger Matthews and Maeve Dooley as new members of the Editorial Board. At this time of change as an editorial team, we are reflecting on the role, form and look of Inside Out and we would very much welcome your views on our journal’s development – please email us your thoughts on what you would like to retain about our journal’s contents and format as well as on what changes you would welcome into the future.
