DETAILS OF WORKSHOP

Experience the power of your voice. Enjoy it. Being heard is vital to our being.  Hearing our own sound and playing with it enhances our lives and our work.

This experiential workshop is participative, gentle and powerful. You will be supported by the group sound and the facilitator as you explore and have fun with your own creativity. Everything is by invitation. You go at your own pace. Each of us has a unique place in our vocal chords where our speaking and singing voices lie.  In her work Anne has helped singers to find where their unique voice lies and have gone on to sing in singing groups and choirs which they thought was not possible for them.

Singing to ourselves in the shower, in the car, anywhere ,both calms us and motivates us depending on the sound. We trigger the release of dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin. It can be self-soothing.

The day is full of small and large group sound activity  and movement where creativity is encouraged and honoured.  Treat yourself to a day of exploration and self-care.

PRESENTER - Anne Colgan

Anne Colgan is an IAHIP Psychotherapist and Supervisor and has worked with sound and song since she was 5 years old.  As her practice developed Anne found a way to incorporate the emotional power of singing into her practice and into her workshops particularly in the area of childhood trauma.  Her Masters’ Thesis “Can’t Sing, Won’t Sing”, explores the importance of how safety and fun are vital to learning how to make and cherish our own sound. Anne is published poet, and self-published her book “Everyone Can Sing” in 2023.  Her CDs Courage; Croí; and Everyone Can Sing were released in 2010; 2012 and 2023. The book and CDs are available at everyonecansing.ie.
