Details of workshop

This workshop will present the work of leaders in the fields of Personality Development, Margaret Mahler and Una McCluskey and Treatment for ‘Adult Children of Alcoholics’, Stephanie Brown and Tian Dayton. Participants will be invited to step into the main features of these fields through experiential exercises thus bringing the dynamics of these fields to life with a particular focus on core developmental issues emerging for the adult child of parental problem alcohol use.

The workshop will be rich in opportunities to practice working therapeutically with the issues presenting.

As well as presentations from Marion and Mick, role-plays, self-reflection, work in small groups and plenary discussions will all be methods of applied learning.

Participants will be invited to share their own clinical and personal experience of each of these fields in order to enrich the learning environment.

Marion Rackard 

Accredited with Addiction Counsellors Ireland and IAHIP as counsellor, psychotherapist and supervisor

Founder member of Silent Voices campaign under Alcohol Action Ireland 2019 -present. From a family impacted by parental problem alcohol use.

HSE Senior Addiction Counsellor in Community Alcohol Counselling Service for South West Dublin with team of 4 counsellors (14yrs)

Director of National Counselling Service-  Alba Counselling Service HSE(2yrs) 2004-2006

Project Manager HSE Alcohol Programme for askaboutalcohol.ie website (5years)

Chair (4yrs) and Executive Director of Alcohol Action Ireland (2years) 2002-2008

Provides psychotherapy private practice including training and supervision in Kildare.

Committed to own and clients’ ongoing recovery.

Mick Devine

From a family impacted by parental problem alcohol use. 

Started professional life as a secondary school teacher, student counsellor and adult educator.

Working in the field of drug and alcohol services since early 1990s.

Now clinical lead with addiction treatment agency in Cork, Tabor Group.

Provides small psychotherapy practice including training and supervision.

Committed to ongoing recovery and wellness.  

Particularly committed to psychospiritual development, my own and others.

Accredited counsellor and supervisor with Addiction Counsellors of Ireland.

Participants 

Minimum number: 30
Maximum number: 50

This workshop will proceed subject to minimum numbers.
