Acceptable Supervisor

For IAHIP Accreditation, Re-Accreditation, Supervision Accreditation and Supervision Re-Accreditation all supervisors, whether individual or group supervisors, must be either:

  1. IAHIP accredited supervisors, or
  2. supervisors accredited as such by other equivalent organisations acceptable to IAHIP, and who agree to work in a way that is congruent with the supervisee’s orientation as a humanistic and integrative psychotherapist/supervisor.

The current list of the other equivalent organisations acceptable to IAHIP is as follows:

  • Association for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy in Ireland (APPI)
  • Irish Analytical Psychology Association (IAPA)
  • Irish Forum for Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (IFCAPP)
  • Irish Forum for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (IFPP)
  • Irish Group Analytic Society (IGAS)
  • Irish Psycho-Analytic Association (IPAA)
  • Family Therapy Association of Ireland (FTAI)
  • Northern Ireland Institute of Human Relations (NIIHR)
  • UKCP (Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy College)

A supervisor who can demonstrate that they are psychotherapeutically trained to the level of EAP standards, (https://www.europsyche.org/quality-standards/eap-standards/) may be acceptable on a case-by-case basis.  The burden of providing sufficient evidence lies with the applicant for accreditation/reaccreditation.
