    Irish Society of Jungian Analysts
    in conjunction with the
    Irish Analytical Psychology Association
    Presents live on Zoom

    Thursday, 10th October 2024: 19:3021:00 (Irish time)

Awestruck in nature do we wander

    Cedrus Monte,
    Jungian Analyst

It could be argued that any true healing of neurosis would need to bring both spiritual life and the natural world to a new understanding. We are perhaps still trying to solve the problem of healing on a too personal, psychological level. Jung was deeply concerned over the loss of our connection with Nature, with the Great Mother. The word “matter” has become a purely intellectual concept. How different was the former image of matter — the Great Mother — which could convey profound emotional meaning. By wandering in the natural world, we begin to awaken to our primal, embodied connection to the Great Mother and feel the awe and gratitude that are ours to receive when we open to the beauty and mysteries that are an integral part of the natural world. In this way we might in part begin to heal, at the level of soul, an ever-increasing neurotic and collapsing world.

Cedrus Monte, Jungian Analyst, graduate of the C. G. Jung Institute (1996) Member of IAAP (emerita)/AGAP.  Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, she now lives and practices in Zurich, Switzerland. In addition to numerous papers included in Jungian anthologies, she has published CORPUS ANIMA: Reflections from the Unity of Body and Soul (Chiron Publications) and A MEMOIR OF MEMORIES: Remembering the Death of My Mother (Little Owl Press, Zurich; with accompanying podcast on Speaking of Jung, episode 68).

Hi! My name is Michaela Neylan, and I am a final year Psychotherapy student at Dublin City University. I am looking for interested psychotherapists that are:

    • Accredited by a recognised national counselling organisation (e.g. I.A.C.P, I.A.H.I.P).
    • Attending regular clinical supervision.
    • Any gender aged 18 years and above.
    • Fluent in English.

Psychotherapists work with themes that exist within the horror film genre, daily in their clinic. The potential benefits of taking part may include adding to dialogue on how psychotherapists understand and relate to horror films and the themes within. Through exploring and sharing the impact of film (especially with mental health themes that are taboo or dark) psychotherapists may be better able to relate to difficult experiences or feelings in their client work.

Interviews will take 45 minutes via Zoom or on DCU campus at a date/time that best suits you.

If you are curious about anything, please reach out to me by email: michaela.neylan3@mail.dcu.ie or by phone: 085 815 4890.

    All the best, Michaela.

YogaSOMATICS: A journey through the Chakras

Aura Space are delighted to present this new online self-care and home practice offering for autumn.

A journey through the chakra system through a YogaSOMATCS lens combining aspects of the Eastern body and Western mind from a Jungian perspective. Chakra is the Sanskrit word for "wheel” which are energy centres in the body. Their purpose is to allow energy to flow freely and fluidly, restoring our life energy. This 8-week voyage will explore the seven chakras through the practice of YogaSOMATICS allowing for a final week of integration.

YogaSOMATICS offers spaces of containment and exploration through aware movements, breathing, relaxation, mindfulness, meditation and contact bodywork. It is a return to connect to one’s own bio energy, through slow and subtle movement in a first-person relational experience. It may appeal to those who are new to yoga or as a self-care body practice.

This is the fourth year that Deirdre has been delivering YogaSOMATICS online to psychotherapists. Having previously worked as a therapist, she believes that this practice is an excellent grounding and self-care resource and has experienced the energetic component and somatic quality adding a fresh dimension to client work.

Dear pre-accredited and accredited fellow professionals,

Are you interested in joining a supervision group ? They are found to be “great support”, give “valuable perspectives from experiences of other group members” and “safely contracted spaces”.

These particular on-line groups are facilitated by myself, Jim FitzGibbon. I am a supervisor accredited with IAHIP. I am a gestalt psychotherapist. I recently completed further supervision training for supervisors at the Gestalt Institute at HCC Italy.

From October 2024 a place in an existing group will become available, namely 10am Fridays.

Group delivery is on-line. Meetings are monthly with approximately ten meetings per year. My fee is 60 euros per person for each two hour session.

In line with accreditation criteria set by IAHIP and IACP, groups will have a maximum of four members.

Assessment reports and re-accreditation applications will be included.

The group is also a good fit for additional supervision support and CPD and you may even find that belonging to a group of others meets a personal need.

If you are interested please contact me at jamesfitzgibbon57@gmail.com.

    Best wishes
    Jim

Training Feedback, Professional Standards & Quality Improvement

At LifeChange we believe in transparent feedback, peer-learning and continual development and quality improvement of all training offered. This is crucial in maintaining high professional training standards, especially at more advanced and experiential levels of training. Please see below verified comments and feedback for this course from previous therapistparticipants:

My expectations were met and exceeded. I found participation in the course deepened my experience of myself and I have a better sense of how I might integrate bodywork into my practice. The course flowed in a seamless way with the rhythm of the group. It never felt rushed. It always felt like the “right” amount of time was given to any segment whether it was a process or an exercise.”

I experienced myself more deeply in my body and gained an awareness and appreciation of the information my body can offer and how that might be brought into my life generally and as a therapist.A word of thanks to the facilitator for being so professional and caring. It’s largely due to your ability to tune into and flow with the group that made the course so enriching and informative for me.”

An excellent beginning. I have already started to use what I have learnt in my practice, so the course has more than facilitated a basic understanding to enable meaningful body work. Every day offered so many new somatic experiences that I felt I really connected with my body for the first time. I felt truly grounded and compassionately supported as I made my new discoveries.

This course has moved my therapeutic practice, and my ability to facilitate client change, to a different dimension. By enabling me to incorporate the client’s body in the work I can now truly offer ‘integrative therapy’.”

I hugely enjoyed the course and am feeling the benefits in myself and with my clients too. I am already looking forward to doing the Level 2 training and supervision next year.”

“Having trained with the team some years ago, we set up our own bodywork peer group and this has been invaluable as a support and resource in working as therapists. LifeChange has continued to provide support in the form of ongoing training modules and supervision, and this allowed us to keep growing and developing in the work as a group.”

“I have done many ‘bodywork’ courses over the years, but having trained here I realise what was missing – the focus on real experiential integration of the skills (including time and space to do so properly) i.e. understanding/feeling somatically ‘the language of the body’ in and through my body, rather than a purely theoretical or cognitive version which never fully clicked with all my other therapy training. I hope other therapists get a chance to experience what I have. I’m not exaggerating when I say this is the holy grail of bodywork.”

“I initially thought that committing to 2-day weekends for training might be challenging and intense – however I now realise that it created a more consistent and safe environment for experiential / somatic work of this nature. A weekend once a month over four or five months felt manageable, but also the right level of intensity for deeper work. The facilitators got the pacing just right day to day, checking in with the energy and levels within the group at all times. As the course progressed so too did the level of challenge, but I always felt encouraged and free to go at my own pace, so I have genuinely found it life changing!”
