    Role: Lead Therapist – Galway, Tuam & Ballina Outreach Centre’s

    Location: Role can be based in Galway or Tuam with travel between Galway, Tuam & Ballina

    Role and Responsibilities:

    The role of the Lead Therapist is to manage Therapists and Centre Administrations and oversee therapy and clinical issues that may arise. Reporting directly to the Regional Manager this role ensures quality in service delivery and consistency in approach.

    This role will include, but not be limited to the following:

    Promote and maintain the ethos of Pieta which is rooted in compassion and care

    Monitor and support therapists in the delivery of safe, high quality therapeutic interventions

    • Ensuring best practice in clinical governance, up to date accreditation and insurance
    • Ensuring all therapists attend individual and group supervision
    • Oversee client assessments and risk assessments, ensuring best practice, and supporting access to the service in line with our service model and ensure that risk management strategies are implemented and reviewed as needed
    • People management including Therapists and Centre Administrators
    • Probation and performance management and individual management support meetings
    • Oversee staff training, inductions, rostering and record completion
    • Oversee file management in-line with GDPR, data protection and confidentiality
    • Act as a Pieta Clinical Representative in the local community as required and agreed by Regional Manager
    • Consult and collaborate with Regional Manager
    • Escalate areas of concern to Regional Manager
    • Implement all policies and procedures and monitor and ensure compliance by all staff
    • Work closely with operations department to ensure Health & Safety compliance in centres/with staff
    • Liaise with Regional Support Coordinator and Regional Manager for appropriate allocation of clients and waiting lists
    • Maintain an agreed clinical caseload
    • Work within an agreed budget
    • Essential Education, Skills and Experience:
    • Be fully accredited with IACP, IAHIP, PSI, NAPCP or equivalent
    • A minimum of two years supervisory or management experience
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Proficient in using Microsoft Office
    • Experience of working with a broad cross section of staff and professionals, across agencies/communities
    • Be interested in and demonstrate a belief and enthusiasm for the work of Pieta
    • Experience with databases an advantage (e.g. Salesforce CRM)
    • Availability to travel between x3 centre locations – Galway, Tuam & Ballina

    Advanced Experiential Process Group - Cork

    Purpose of the group

    The purpose of this experiential process group is to provide a space for practicing psychotherapists to continue to develop their personal awareness and their relational skills through direct group experiential learning with particular focus on here-and-now relating. We aim to provide a group environment which offers the opportunity to meet others at relational depth in a here-and-now oriented context.

    Facilitators

    Both facilitators are experienced practitioners, both trained experientially within a humanistic and integrative framework.

    Alan Hackett. MA, BA, DIP, MIAHIP.

    Alan is an experienced, accredited psychotherapist working with adults who present with a diverse range of presenting issues. He also specialises in working with adolescents and young people. He has experience of facilitating growth promoting groups which include families affected by addiction and also young people in aftercare recovery.

    Barbara O’ Connell. MA, BA, DIP, MIAHIP, ECP.

    Barbara is an experienced, accredited psychotherapist who works with a variety of presenting issues with both individuals and couples. She is also an accredited supervisor working with both individuals and groups. Barbara has extensive experience in working with groups of all levels and abilities.

    Entry requirements

    This group is open to accredited and pre-accredited therapists. Exceptions may be considered depending on individual levels of personal awareness and development.

    Therapy Services Manager

    Background Information:

    The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre (DRCC) has a twofold mission: to prevent the harm and heal the trauma of all forms of sexual violence in Ireland. We provide therapeutic and first response services through the National 24/7 Helpline, face to face therapy and a developing online counselling programme. We provide accompaniment and support to those who attend the Rotunda Sexual Assault Treatment Unit, Garda Stations, and the Courts. In addition, we offer education and training programmes for a wide variety of professionals and volunteers who work with those who have experienced sexual violence.

    The Role:

    The DRCC is now recruiting a Therapy Services Manager to support the Head of Clinical Services with the delivery of an efficient and effective client therapy service within the DRCC. This is a new role, and the successful candidate will form part of the management structure of the department overseeing and supervising a team of 24 therapists.

    The post holder will require a relevant professional qualification and experience in counselling or psychotherapy, together with accreditation of a relevant professional institution – the PSI, IACP, or ICP.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    • Contributing to the development, implementation, and review of therapy services by identifying, recommending, and implementing policies, processes and systems designed to improve and enhance the therapy services function.
    • Supporting therapy operations and activities across the Therapy Department in addition to coordinating client services and resources in outreach locations.
    • Along with the Head of Clinical Services and external supervisors provide Clinical Supervision for a number of therapists.
    • Conducting case management meetings with therapists and reviewing the overall intake of clients, prioritising daily provision of crisis appointments.

    Building on latest research conducted by Dr. Leslie Greenberg, Dr. Serine Warwar, and colleagues, this intensive 5-day training institute in Couples Emotion-Focused therapy provides registrants with in-depth skills training through lectures, video demonstrations, modeling and experiential practice. The workshop will cover the 5 stage, 14 step expanded model of EFT-C, and EFT-C for forgiveness and resolving emotional injuries, focusing on working on attachment and identity needs, as well as self and other soothing. As an emotion-focused therapy we focus on how to work with emotions such as anger, sadness, fear and shame. Participants will be asked to identify key interactional cycles in their own present or past primary relationships and work on these by accessing their own primary, underlying emotions in the training.

    EMOTION-FOCUSED COUPLES THERAPY is one of the most researched interventions in couples counselling. EFT focuses on the emotional bond between a couple but also on each partner's own emotional experiences and needs. It strives to uncover the manner by which each partner's emotional reaction to events contributes to negative interactional patterns within the relationship. Over the course of therapy, the fractured emotional bond is healed by identifying these negative interactional cycles, and transforming them by accessing, articulating and responding to primary attachment and identity related emotions and needs. The essential goal of EFT is thus the creation of new, healthy patterns of interaction by using emotion to restructure interactions.

    DR. SERINE WARWAR, PH.D., C. PSYCH., is a Clinical Psychologist and the Director of the York University Emotion-Focused Therapy Clinic in Toronto, Canada. She is also the Founder and Director of the Centre for Psychology and Emotional Health (www.cpeh.ca), a private practice for individual, couple therapy, EFT training, and a satellite training site for the Emotion-Focused Therapy Clinic at York University. She provides EFT supervision, training, and consultation to graduate students and therapists. She conducts international trainings, workshops and master classes on emotion regulation, EFT for individuals and couples, as well as workshops in resolving emotional injuries and forgiveness in couples. She has been an EFT skills trainer for 28 years. Dr. Warwar’s EFT institutes are highly praised for their warmth, authenticity, and her focus on to teaching participants micro-skills in EFT. She was trained in EFT by Dr. Leslie Greenberg. Dr. Warwar has been a therapist and researcher for several EFT randomized control trials in individuals and couples. With Drs. Greenberg and Malcolm, she co-developed an EFT psychotherapy treatment and research program for forgiveness to help couples and individuals resolve emotional injuries. She has published in the areas of emotional processing; emotion regulation, homework and experiential teaching; suicide and borderline personality disorder; and resolving emotional injuries and forgiveness in individuals and couples. She has also adapted and applied EFT in working with vulnerable clinical populations such as: chronically suicidal individuals, domestically violent men in prison, borderline personality disorder, and psychological and physical trauma.

    The workshop is open to qualified clinical/counselling psychologists and accredited psychotherapists/counsellors, and will accommodate those with no prior experience of EFT as well as those with extensive EFT and/or Couples experience.

    About: The Suicide Bereavement Liaison Service is a collaborative venture between Pieta House and the HSE. The primary objective of the service is to provide a high quality and proactive support to families and community in the aftermath of a loss by suspected suicide, within a defined framework and protocol to the geographic area. 

    The Suicide Bereavement Liaison Officer will provide support and guidance to individuals and families in the immediate aftermath of death by suicide. The role will be based in Galway and requires travel to meet and assist clients. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and networking skills in order to establish and maintain working relationships with agencies and organisations locally. 

    Reporting directly to the National Co-ordinator on day to day matters you will also be part of a national network of Suicide Bereavement Liaison Officers. 

    Responsibilities: 

    Coordinate and develop the service to provide immediate contact and support to those bereaved and affected by a suspected suicide across the assigned geographic area 

    Provide timely and relevant support, information and advice. Exercise good judgment in assessing each case and establishing the most appropriate steps for on-going support, signposting or onward referral 

    Develop strong relationships and partnerships with key agencies and first responders in the region, to establish and facilitate helpful responses to individuals, families, or groups who have been bereaved by suicide 

    Prepare detailed monitoring and progress reports on a quarterly basis to include data pertaining to the delivery of service to those bereaved (liaison links, referrals made, follow up etc) 

    Continue to develop and maintain interagency protocol that will provide a co-ordinated response to families following a suicide death in line with best practice and/or local HSE CfL response protocols

The Families First Team supports the complex needs of families using an evidenced based, intensive systemic therapeutic approach. The team provides home and community based family therapy and psychotherapy services to families with complex needs. Families First operate within an interagency framework.

    The successful candidate must have a commitment to work from a strength based, trauma-informed and youth and family development perspectives and preferably have a proven track record of delivering highly effective work with complex families.

    Qualifications

    Candidates must have a minimum qualification of a primary degree in Counselling/ Psychotherapy, Counselling Psychology or Family Therapy. Full accreditation with the relevant professional body is essential. Candidates must have at least 3 years’ relevant work experience, working with families and adolescents with challenging and complex needs.

    In addition, candidates should have:

    ·       Excellent relationship building skills and ability to motivate young people and their families to participate in therapy

    ·       Commitment to empowering families to solve their own problems

    ·       Strong clinical skills

    ·       Ability and willingness to work with families in their own homes where appropriate

    ·       Flexibility to work when the families are available to meet

    ·       Ability to work independently, as well as contribute to a team

    ·       Ability to work collaboratively with statutory agencies

    ·       Excellent interpersonal/communication/report writing skills

    ·       Full driving license

    Duties and responsibilities will include

    ·       Carrying a caseload as assigned

    ·       Providing a home-based service to families as necessary

    ·       Actively participating as part of the project team

    ·       Working collaboratively with referring agencies and other community and state agencies.

    ·       Working with families to develop a family plan and case manage referrals to other appropriate services and supports

    ·       Perform the basic accountability tasks related to the job, which include compiling and maintaining all necessary records.

    ·       Perform other duties as requested.

    Successful applicants will receive additional training in Functional Family Therapy
