    A YEAR FOR YOU 2023/2024
    (CPD hours available)

We all know the value of spaciousness of slowing down of taking time for ourselves, these seven weekends offer that possibility for you. We also know how important is community and the collective support that we can receive from a group especially a closed group like the Year for You group. This helps us with the commitment to confidentiality to feel safe enough to allow us to drop down and connect with ourselves, others and nature.

We will seek solace, ease and deep rest in returning again to our bodies, hearts, breath and soul. The environment is important to help this process and we are fortunate enough to be in the natural beauty of the land at An Sanctoir and the fine octagonal hall for our gathering.

We will use Systemic and Family Constellations as well as other practices to help to find our true place in the world and what prevents our own blossoming in whatever issues arise. Each person will get a chance to do their own constellation through the year as well as the opportunity to support other in theirs. There will be time for integration in deep rest and deep silences as well as sharing with each other.

This is our fourth Year for You and although we never know what is going to happen we have developed a basic structure to help hold and explore together and individually the large existential questions as well as the important personal issues that may arise.

    Starts October 2023

Embodying Place & Time weekend ecotherapy workshop, sligo with Therese O’Driscoll and Matthew Henson Fri (eve) 08 Sept – Sun (lunchtime) 10 Sept 2023

Therapy never happens in a bubble, it always has a setting, a physical place and time, and a socio-political context. This weekend workshop offers an introduction to embodying place and time in the therapeutic encounter. Employing an ecotherapy lens and integrating western psychological wisdom with indigenous traditions, we will draw upon a wide range of creative and experiential training methods, embracing spontaneity to meet and explore whatever emerges. Through practices that bring us fully into our bodies, we will find our therapeutic ground by connecting with ourselves, each other and the other-than-human ‘natural’ world. We can never be anywhere other than where we are, so that is where we will start, with a phenomenological exploration of this place, this time, here and now. The workshop is aimed at practising psychotherapists, counsellors, art therapists, dance movement therapists, psychologists, etc, or students in those disciplines. It might also be of interest to anyone in the broader caring professions; social workers, teachers, youth workers, medical practitioners, alternative and complementary practitioners, etc. It is equally suited to those looking to work in an ecologically informed way with clients and to individuals looking for ecologically informed personal development. The workshop can serve as a standalone experience, or as an introduction to ecotherapy for anyone thinking about a more in-depth training. No previous formal qualifications are required.

Overlooked by Benbulben and Knocknarea, the workshop will take place at An Talamh, a wild working garden situated in West Sligo and home plus garden/cabin studio of Therese. The surrounding landscape has been a teacher of how to garden and how to receive the influence of the wider environment and its many inhabitants. The cost of the 15 CPD hour workshop, including facilitation by two trainers and evening meals, is €310 (€290 early bird, if booked before 30 June). A range of affordable accommodation is available locally.

Therese and Matthew are both registered psychotherapists (IAHIP) with more than 50 combined years in practice. Therese is also an accredited supervisor, offering eco supervision. Her work integrates an interest in the healing relationship, our relationship with nature and the use of creativity. Working through words, poetry, dreams, the body moving and dialogue with place, she offers

a safe, contained and healing space. Matthew is a qualified psychotherapy trainer and draws upon his training in existential-phenomenology and wild therapy to facilitate deeper human-nature connectedness. He is particularly interested in the therapeutic mutuality which occurs when we fully engage with the other-than-human.

SEEKING VOLUNTEERS INTERESTED IN PARTICAIPTING IN AN MSC RESEARCH PROJECT

I am an MSc student on the Psychotherapy programme at Dublin City University (DCU) and I’m undertaking a research study under the supervision of Dr. Ray O’Neill where I’m seeking volunteers to be interviewed.

This research intends to explore the perspectives and experiences of both C-suite/Senior Business Leaders and Senior Leaders in Human Resources, together with suppliers of embedded counselling skills and or related skills to the corporate sector. The aim of the study is to explore the potential role that embedded counselling skills (i.e., the use of counselling skills in occupations where counselling is not the main function of the role) could bring to strengthen leaders’ listening and atunement in support of employee wellbeing, and the implications for leadership development.

As a practicing Psychotherapist, you may or may not be involved in providing psychotherapeutic support to leaders responsible for employee wellbeing. Your input will be invaluable on providing insight on the extent and adequacy of embedded counselling skills in current leadership training and development programmes.

If you are interested in this study, your participation will be greatly appreciated.

If you have any queries about the research, you are welcome to contact me at yvonne.mcwey2@mail.dcu.ie.
