TERMS OF REFERENCE
FOR IAHIP APPEALS PROCESS

Each Ad-Hoc Appeals Board shall consist of three IAHIP members.  These members are chosen by the GB from a panel of IAHIP members who have put themselves forward for membership of the Ad-Hoc Appeals Panel.  The members will have no other administrative function, including membership of a committee, must meet all the requirements of the Conflict-of-Interest policy, and agree to abide by the Confidentiality Agreement.

Each Ad-Hoc Appeals Board will hear a single appeal regarding accreditation, re-accreditation, or recognition made by any of the specified committees:

  • Accreditation Committee
  • Re-Accreditation Committee
  • Supervision Committee
  • Psychotherapy Training Course Recognition Committee (PTCRC)

The Ad-Hoc Appeals Board will receive the appeal, on the correct form, from the Administration Office.

To assess the appeal, the Ad-Hoc Appeals Board will:

  • Establish that grounds for appeal exist. See page on Grounds for Certain Appeals within IAHIP

  • Review the appeal against the Bye-Laws and procedures for the relevant committee.

  • Review the processes followed by the relevant committee.

  • Establish if the appeal is to be upheld or not, regarding whether the procedures were followed.

The outcome of the appeal will be advised to the relevant committee and the Governing Body, including any reflections or recommendations concerning IAHIP Bye-Laws or procedures.

If the appeal is upheld, the application will be reprocessed by the committee using the correct procedure.

If the appeal is not upheld, the applicant will be advised of the outcome by the Ad-Hoc Appeals Board.

There is a fee to be paid before any appeal can be lodged.  This will be refunded if the appeal is upheld.  (Please consult the fees page or Administration Office for the current fee.)

The decision of the Ad-Hoc Appeals Board is final.
