YogaSOMATICS is a contemporary perspective of yoga that is immediate, fluid and experiential. It bridges traditional yoga, modern somatics, meditative techniques and inquiry towards conciousness. YogaSOMATICS encourages sensing and deep listening to make inner contact with oneself and the energetic body. The practice offers spaces of containment and exploration through aware movements, breathing, relaxation, mindfulness, meditation and contact bodywork. It is a return to connect to one’s own bio energy, through slow and subtle movement in a first-person relational experience. It may appeal to those who are new to yoga or as a self-care body practice.

YogaSOMATICS was founded by Ateeka whose work has been inspired by Continuum Movement founder, the late Emily Conrad, Gestalt psychotherapist Ruella Frank, Danish spiritual teachers, Jes Bertelsen and Madhurima Rigtrup and is currently a student of Helen Gamborg, author of the “Invisible Aspects of Healing”, inspired by Bob Moor’s teachings about the subtle body, energy medicine and healing.

The classes will be exploratory and invitational to make inner contact and honour your own natural rhythm. There will be a blend of asanas/gestures, somatic movements, breathing exercises and rest shapes and also invite the general new attitude of non-urgency, inner listening, rest as a beginning phase, pleasure-feeling good, unwinding, developmental movements and self-care.

Previous participants have described the practice as “mind-blowing”, “powerful”, “subtle”, “transcendental” and “a landing space”.

    Block 1: Sensing (Booking Closed)

Some aspects which will be explored are awakening the senses and the sensitive body through energetic nervous system resets, awareness of the back field, the skin as a sensing organ, facial massage, self-healing relaxation, breath and subtle movement.

    Dates: 11th, 18th, 25th January and 1st and 8th February 2022

    Block 2: Deepening

Elements that will be touched are unwinding (the heart of YogaSOMATICS); getting a “felt sense” of soft body in the myofascial tissue, rocking movements as a nervous system reset, developmental movements such as the “push and reach”, and some meditative visualisations and energetic work.

    Dates: Tuesday 22nd February, 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd March 2022

    Block 3: Rewilding

Touching into the Psoas entity known as the “muscle of the soul” connecting to instinctual wisdom, using music as a nervous system reset, unwinding, guided meditation, grounding practices and Savasana with energetic awareness.

    Dates: Tuesday 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th April and 10th May 2022

Investment: €50 per 5-week block. Reduced fee as Deirdre currently in training of 250H YogaSOMATICS programme.

My name is John Lalor. I am an MA student in Pluralistic Counselling and Psychotherapy at IICP, Dublin. I am recruiting participants for my project, and I would be most grateful if you would agree to participate.

This is a quantitative study into the relationship between Self-Compassion (Neff, 2003a,b), Compassion-for-Others, and Mindfulness in fully-accredited therapists and counsellors. I believe it is important to better understand the relationship between these constructs, given what we know about the importance of self-care, and the impact of stress and burnout in our profession.

The questionnaire, hosted on Survey Monkey, is quite brief: it contains two psychometrics (total: 55 questions); you will also be asked some standard demographic questions.

    Here is the link>>
the Information Sheet and Consent Form are on the first pages of the questionnaire.

If you would like to contact me, please do not hesitate:

IRISH SOCIETY OF JUNGIAN ANALYSTS in conjunction with the IRISH ANALYTICAL PSYCHOLOGY ASSOCIATION

    Presents live on Zoom

    ________________________________________________________________________________________

    Thursday, 3rd March 2022: 8.00pm to 9.15pm - Irish time

In Search of Duende: The Impulse in the Blood

    Patricia Llosa, MFA, LP

“Duende,” an untranslatable word from Roma folk culture of Southern Spain, describes a small mythological figure, a powerful and mischievous imp or demon who slips in through cracks. Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca in his famous essay “The Theory and Play of Duende” presents a rhapsodic catalog of Duende, as “soul,” an evocation not of the ghostly but the embodied which he describes as a dynamic, a dark, possessing power that originates in the earth, a buried spirit of black sounds, an intimate of death. The highest possibility for an artist is to be possessed and struggle with the Duende; at that moment comes a smashing and transcendence of form, and the eruption of spontaneous creation. In this presentation Patricia will present her short film exploring Duende and will discuss illuminating points of connection between Lorca’s Duende and her practice as a Jungian analyst.

Patricia Llosa, MFA, LP, is a Peruvian-American Jungian analyst in private practice in New York City. She earned her undergraduate degree in archaeology and art history from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and did graduate work at The School of Visual Arts in NYC. For more than 20 years she worked as an administrator and educator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. A graduate of Marion Woodman’s BodySoul Rhythms® Leadership Training Program, she has taught workshops in Ireland, Japan, Mexico, Peru, and Spain. Presently, she serves on the board of The Archive for Research in Archetypal Symbolism (ARAS) and teaches at the Assisi Institute and the Jungian Psychoanalytic Association.
