IAHIP COMMUNICATION TO MEMBERS
IAHIP member guidelines in relation to Covid-19 for 5th October 2020 – 1st September 2021
The following guidelines apply to the specified period above only. There will be a regular review of these guidelines due to the changing nature of the Covid-19 pandemic. The governing body of IAHIP reserve the right to adjust the guidelines at any time.
It is a given that appropriate training is undertaken by members and students working remotely and that all members work to their personal proficiencies and IAHIP ethical guidelines. Existing IAHIP standards apply in addition to these guidelines e.g. 50-60 minute session, specific needs for working with under 18’s, etc. Separate logs must be maintained to identify face-to-face and video/phone sessions separately during training, pre-accreditation phase and for re-accreditation purposes.
ACCREDITED MEMBERS.
- Fully accredited members are sanctioned to work remotely (Video and phone only) and remote clinical practice hours will be recognised for re-accreditation purposes
- On-line CPD training courses will be recognised for re-accreditation purposes.
- Remote personal and group therapy hours submitted will be recognised for re-accreditation purposes.
- Remote supervision hours submitted will be recognised for re-accreditation purposes.
PRE-ACCREDITED ASSOCIATE MEMBERS
- Pre-accredited associate members are sanctioned to work remotely (Video and phone only) and remote clinical practice hours will be recognised for accreditation up to a maximum of 125 hours
- On-line CPD training courses will be recognised for accreditation purposes.
- Remote personal and group therapy hours submitted will be recognised for accreditation purposes.
- Remote supervision hours submitted will be recognised for accreditation purposes.
- Any shortfall in clinical practice hours from Phase 1 will require supervision at a ratio of 1: 4 to reach a minimum of 200 hours.
4th YEAR STUDENT MEMBERS
- 4TH /Final year student members are sanctioned to work remotely (Video and phone only) where a face-to-face therapeutic relationship has been established.
- 4th/Final year student associate members are sanctioned to work remotely with new clients following specific training in on-line therapy provided by their training college.
- Remote clinical practice during 4th/Final year will be recognised for accreditation up to a maximum of 125 hours.
- On-line CPD training courses will be recognised for accreditation purposes.
- Remote personal and group therapy hours submitted will be recognised for accreditation purposes.
- Remote Individual and group supervision hours submitted will be recognised for accreditation purposes.
- Up to a maximum of 50 clinical hours shortfall in Phase 1 of training can be carried forward into Phase 2 of training and must be supervised at a ratio of 1:4
3rd YEAR STUDENT MEMBERS
- 3rd year student members are not currently sanctioned to work remotely. Clinical placements can proceed face-to-face, as per normal practice, when and where Covid-19 Government guidelines allow.
- On-line CPD training courses will be recognised for accreditation purposes.
- Remote personal and group therapy hours submitted will be recognised for accreditation purposes.
- Remote individual and group supervision hours submitted will be recognised for accreditation purposes.
ACCREDITED & PRE-ACCREDITED SUPERVISORS
- Fully accredited and pre-accredited supervisors are sanctioned to work remotely (Video and phone) and remote hours will be recognised for accreditation & re-accreditation
- On-line CPD training courses will be recognised for accreditation & re-accreditation purposes.
- Remote personal and group therapy hours submitted will be recognised for accreditation & re-accreditation purposes.
Remote personal supervision hours submitted will be recognised for accreditation & re-accreditation purposes.
