A celebration of the Irish Psyche and Culture.
Venue: O’ Connell House (Daniel O’ Connell’s former home), 58 Merrion Square, Dublin 2.
Time: 2 p.m. – 6.30 .p.m. (followed by a wine reception and music).
Speakers : Dr. Christopher Murray (Emeritus Professor of English, UCD), Paul Moore (Adjunct Assistant Professor in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, TCD and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist), Dr. John O’Connor (Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology, TCD and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist), Mary O’Donnell (novelist/poet), Michelle Sludds-Hickey (Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, Psychologist & Musician), in conversation with Julie Browne (Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist), Brendan Staunton (Psychoanalyst and Art Critic).
Drama Company: Mouth on Fire: The Company will perform extracts from Friel’s ‘Translations,’ introduced/critiqued by Prof. Murray, with links narrated by Ella Hickey.
Musicians: Ella Hickey and Dr. Manus O’ Boyle.
Dr. Murray will introduce and critique Friel’s “Translations” and lead a discussion.
Dr. Manus O’ Boyle will play Irish music of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries and he and Ella Hickey will perform some 20th-century favourites.
This day will be of interest to psychotherapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, social workers, teachers, nurses, historians, artists, musicians, theatre-goers and all those intrigued by Language and by The Psyche. 5 CPD points.
