I am conducting a research study as part of an M.Sc. in Psychotherapy at Dublin City University. The aim of this study is to explore your experience of the real relationship in psychotherapy supervision.
The real relationship has been defined as the personal relationship which exists between two or more people, as reflected in the degree to which each is genuine with the other, and they perceive and experience one another in ways that befit the other. The real relationship in supervision can manifest in the genuine and appropriate feelings that the supervisor and supervisee experience towards one another, as a part of the supervisory process. The study aims to develop an understanding of the supervisors’ experiences of the real relationship in supervision, and specifically its influence on the personal and professional development of newly qualified psychotherapists.
I am seeking accredited supervisors with more than 3 years’ experience, who are or have lately worked with newly qualified therapists.
It is hoped that this research will add to and improve the theory and practice of supervision, and I would be very grateful for your participation in it. I can assure you that the interviews will be carried out confidentially and respectfully. If you are interested in participation, or, if you have any questions regarding the research topic and the interviews, I would be happy to answer them.
