I am writing to invite your participation in my research study entitled:
Mary was a virgin and Joseph was a donor: Exploring the experience of therapy for women in Ireland who are both psychotherapists and lesbian mothers
I am doing this research as a part of my thesis for an MSc in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy in Turning Point Institute (TPI) which is validated by University College Cork (UCC). I am also a lesbian mother. The MSc requires the completion of a research study relating to psychotherapy.
The purpose of this study is to explore the lived experience of therapy for women who are both qualified psychotherapists and lesbian mothers.
The research will involve accredited members of IAHIP or IACP who have five years or more experience. If you are an accredited member of IAHIP or IACP, who is also a mother in a same sex relationship, and who has completed personal psychotherapy relating to your experience of lesbian motherhood for at least one year, then you are eligible to take part in this study.
If you would like to take part, you will be invited to participate in a one-to-one interview that will be voice-recorded, and take about one hour. The interview will be recorded in a mutually agreed safe and convenient place.
Your participation is voluntary, and I would like to assure you that your safety, anonymity and protection is my priority, subject to the usual limitations in terms of legal obligations. Note that because of coronavirus pandemic restrictions these interviews may have to be conducted online or by telephone.
If you would like to take part or would like more information about this study, please contact me directly.
I am looking forward to meeting you and hearing about your experience of psychotherapy in this context.
With positive energy, on the Mother’s day
