AN INVITATION TO REFLECT AND PARTICIPATE IN
A reflective survey of the perceptions of qualified Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapists in Ireland in relation to their need for time to process client sessions.
My name is Margaret McElvaney-Smith. I am a qualified pre-accredited member of IAHIP and I am completing this research study as a requirement of the M. Sc. in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy programme offered by Turning Point Institute in partnership with the School of Nursing and Human Sciences in Dublin City University.
I have a strong interest in the experience and views of qualified humanistic and integrative psychotherapists in Ireland in relation to the need for time to process client sessions. My research will seek to explore these perceptions, and to clarify what works optimally for individual psychotherapists in terms of scheduling client appointments and making provision for the time that meets their individual processing needs (cognitively, emotionally and somatically) in relation to their work and engagement with clients.
The research involves completing an online questionnaire, which I estimate will take approximately 30 minutes. However, it may be beneficial to allocate about 45 minutes for completing it, so as to have adequate time for reflection and responding to the questions being addressed in a considered way.
All pre-accredited and accredited members of IAHIP are being invited to participate via IAHIP members’ (classified advertisements) mailing system.
Ethical approval for this research has been obtained from the Dublin City University Research Ethics Committee.
I would greatly appreciate if you could consider taking part in this reflective research study, which I believe may be of interest and benefit to IAHIP members at all levels of experience and expertise.
