Exploring Intimacy and Sexual Relationships

A One Day Learning Event

 Saturday 20th July 2019

10:00 am – 4:30 pm (registration at 9:30 am)

Venue: R2 Centre, 3 Reuben Plaza, Rialto, Dublin, D08 PVOH

Registration is at 9:30 am (workshop will start at 10:00 am until 4:30 pm)

Cost: €60 (+booking fee)

A time to reflect on…

What is intimacy? What builds intimacy in romantic and sexual relationships? What can get in the way and prevent or reduce closeness, honesty and deep connections?

This one day workshop will enhance your understanding of emotional and sexual intimacy and why real intimacy is so important for positive romantic and sexual relationships.

Who should attend this workshop?

Do you have a personal or professional interest in human relationships? Do you support others to form or maintain healthy, fulfilling relationships? Perhaps you are a counsellor, psychotherapist, or working in the area of sexual health, mental health or social care, who would like to explore the area of intimacy and sexual relationships to broaden your own knowledge. If your answer is yes to any of the above, then this workshop will be of interest to you.

About the Workshop

All relationships begin with connection, the more intimate the connection the deeper the relationship becomes.  Healthy, fulfilling, romantic and sexual relationships are built on intimacy, with both partners willing to know each other and to be known. However, intimacy must be nurtured in order for it to grow.

The workshop will be an opportunity to explore:

  • The meaning of intimacy, beginning and growing.
  • Knowing me – what we bring to personal relationships.
  • Visibility and vulnerability in the relationship.
  • Knowing me, knowing you – the couple dynamic.
  • The language of intimacy and sex in the therapeutic relationship.
  • Sexual intimacy – more than just sex?
  • Let’s talk about sex – raising the issue – the why, the when and the how

The workshop is interactive, giving you an opportunity to explore your own perceptions of emotional and sexual intimacy, while building your knowledge of how intimacy can be fostered in relationships and the barriers to it reduced.

Facilitated by Martin Grogan and Teresa Seymour
