DETAILS OF WORKSHOP

Are you confident that your practice is truly neurodiversity-affirming?

This introductory workshop offers a foundational overview of the Neurodiversity movement and invites therapists to reconsider pathology-based models through the lens of the social model of disability. We will explore key terminology and the impact of language, alongside the intersections between neurodivergence and LGBTQIA+ identities.

Participants will also reflect on lived neurodivergent experience before moving into practical, accessible steps toward making their work more neuroaffirming and LGBTQIA+-affirming. Through applied discussion and case examples, this session provides a solid starting point for developing a more inclusive, neuro-affirming practice.

PRESENTERS

Silvia Plaza
Silvia Plaza is a PSI-accredited Health Psychologist, Psychotherapist and neurodiversity trainer specialising in neurodivergence within therapeutic and organisational contexts. They are the founder of Violet Psychology, a specialist LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent-affirming therapy service. Silvia delivers neurodiversity-affirmative training for therapists, universities, schools, community organisations, and corporate settings across Ireland and internationally.

Britt Winkelman
Britt Winkelman is the owner and lead coach at 'Sit With Britt'. Britt specialises in the fusion of Eastern philosophy and meditation with integrative humanistic psychotherapy. She is both queer and neurodivergent with 6 years of experience in working with individuals with special abilities, followed by a decade of shaping bodies and minds as a personal trainer and strength coach. She is now completing her psychotherapy master's and qualification from Dublin Business School and completing her training and accreditation hours at The Oasis Centre in Dublin, Ireland.

DETAILS OF WORKSHOP

The inner child is the emotional part of you that you have left behind and didn’t bring it with you into your adult life.

This workshop will endeavour to connect you with your inner child so that you can begin to heal what you have left behind. It is an interactive workshop, so you are going to be working on making that connection and will help you to converse, communicate and be with that part of yourself. It will involve exercises that encourages you to connect with your inner child.

PRESENTER - Clare Brady

Clare is and accredited Integrative humanistic psychotherapist with both the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapists (IAHIP) and Irish Association of Counselling and psychotherapy (IACP) . She holds a MSc in integrative counselling and Psychotherapy and is also a Spiritual director, Reiki practitioner, Montessori teacher. Clare has worked in Roscommon for many years and has a private practice in Mullingar in Ballinderry clinic and in La Verna Centre. She has also worked in East Africa, Scotland and France. Alongside her private practice, she runs group therapy and workshops, small group gatherings specifically designed for each group, including family relationships and personal development growth.

Her specialty includes Inner Child, Dreams, Celtic empowerment and spiritually.

DETAILS OF WORKSHOP

IAHIP supervisors are invited to participate in a Supervisor Colloquium to collectively describe the core of what supervision is about. Following on from the colloquium facilitated by Gerry Myers in 2024, this colloquium will aim to take on challenge of writing a description of supervision from the point-of-view of IAHIP Supervisors. Gerry will again facilitate the day, which he hopes will include some fun, an opportunity to connect with each other and engage in a meaningful piece of work. The colloquium format means that participant expertise will be valued and supervisors' voice will be honoured.

This 1 day workshop of group supervision will give an overview of the particular aspects of working with a group of therapists and the dynamics that may arise and that are important to understand for the successful running and maximum benefit of supervising with a group. It will emphasise the potential extra elements of support and perspective that can be available in working with and in a group. All this will be coupled with experiential learning.

PRESENTER - Deirdre Walsh

Deirdre is an accredited supervisor, core process Psychotherapist and group analyst. Having recently retired from 25 years working in the national counselling service, she has worked as a psychotherapist with individuals and groups for over 30 years. Her supervision practice, since 2009, has been both in private practice and in the NCS as case manager. She has supervised students, individuals and run supervision groups of therapists in private practice and in organisations.

DETAILS OF WORKSHOP

This short online training course aims to explore the issues that arise when engaging in clinical supervision with psychotherapists who are working in an organisational context. It considers the difference between line management and clinical supervision and the management of dual roles; working within a complex network of relationships and identifying the locus of power; organisational culture and unconscious processes; contracting and ethics.

The course includes information inputs, case studies and small group work.

FACILITATOR - Maeve Lewis

Maeve Lewis is a psychotherapist, supervisor and training consultant working in private practice.

From 2008 -2024 she was CEO of One in Four, an NGO providing psychotherapy and advocacy services to adult survivors of child sexual abuse and to their families together with a sex offender intervention programme. One in Four engages actively in influencing the policy and legislation that impacts the clients.

A psychotherapist specialising in sexual trauma, Maeve has also worked overseas in post conflict situations in the former Yugoslavia, Rwanda and Sierra Leone, training local trauma counsellors. She is a registered expert witness in sexual trauma at the International Criminal Court at The Hague and has given evidence before the Court.

In 2024 Maeve received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Limerick for her contribution to society.
