Overall Purpose of the Role:
The Registrar has responsibility for ICPPD Quality Assurance Processes and for academic affairs within ICPPD, including responsibility for academic administration, academic regulations, academic quality and standards, academic records and liaison with accrediting bodies, which includes responsibility for coordinating academic relationships, validation events, programmatic reviews, College reviews and reporting arrangements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for Quality Assurance Processes within ICPPD, ensuring the existence and use within the college of academic policies, standards, processes and procedures in accordance with best practice in third level education.
- Coordinating the ongoing review and enhancement of academic policies, standards, processes and procedures, thereby updating regulations as required.
- Responsible for all aspects of academic administration and regulation including admission and registration of learners; programme organisation and administration; coordination of learner assessment.
- Oversight of assessment processes and examination board; recording, processing and communication of results
- Academic Regulations – Regulations governing learner admission, progression and graduation and teaching, learning and assessment; updating regulations as required and monitoring compliance with the requirements of validating body (QQI) and the terms of programme approval.
- Academic Records – To include responsibility for maintenance of academic files and records and has ultimate responsibility for the reliability and integrity of all academic records. Ensuring academic records and files are maintained, safeguarding of learner records and ensuring that learner data is protected and utilised in accordance with College policies and legislation.
- Advisory Role - Advising staff and collaborating with them in relation to academic developments, quality enhancement initiatives, and continuing development of programmes, and promotion of the highest academic standards including academic integrity.
- Communication and liaison with validating, accrediting bodies and other collaborative bodies in relation institutional academic quality assurance practices.
- Responsibility for Protection for Learners (PEL) and liaison with QQI re PEL.
- The College Registrar is a member of the Academic Board, the Executive Management Committee, Programme Boards and is chair of Examination Boards.
