The name CORU originates from an Irish word, 'cóir', meaning fair, just and proper.
What is CORU?
CORU is the regulatory body that will oversee the registration of Psychotherapy in Ireland.
The Minister for Health, Simon Harris TD, confirmed on 27 February 2019 the establishment of and appointment of members to the Counsellors and Psychotherapists Registration Board, under the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (amended) to regulate the professions of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
IAHIP is currently assisting CORU to help aid a comprehensive scoping of legacy/historical qualifications to inform advice to the Minister.
