Report on Regional Meeting 12th April 2011 Oriel Court Hotel, Ballincollig, Co Cork
The meeting was facilitated by Bronagh Starrs, Regional Development Officer and Pauline Dolan (GB).
Bronagh explained the new regional structure and welcomed an open discussion from the members present. Some lively interaction followed with discussion centering around the difficulty in defining Psychotherapy, the need for solid research to inform the public about what we do and its effects and the desire for closer connection with local IAHIP members as well as with Mental Health Providers and the Service User Movement.
Suggestions for ways in which group cohesion could be built included the possible formation of a walking group, a choir, a film/book club, a spirituality group, some process work/CPD and the use of guest speakers. The meeting was optimistic and there was a very positive sense of the richness of available resources and of members’ willingness to gather to share their time and energy with the group.
Two Regional Contact People were appointed for the South Region:
Coleen Jones & Ann Irwin.
