IAHIP has three categories of membership for individuals:
1) Accredited Member
In order to apply for accreditation you will need to meet the standards laid down in Bye Law 10 (interim criteria for those who commenced psychotherapy training before April 1st 2010), or Bye Law 11 (for those who commenced training on or after April 1st 2010).

Application forms must be Spiral Bound and enclosures must follow the order of the check list.
All applications must be legible
All relevant sections completed and, where necessary, supporting evidence supplied
All ratios stated – when totals are requested in the form they must be completed.
Processing fee is €130.00.When we receive your application you will get confirmation by return. After which, processing of the application may take three to six months to complete. We would ask for your patience with the Association in this regard.
Annual Professional Subscription Fees Accredited Member €275.00.
2) Pre-Accredited Associate
In order to apply for pre-accredited associate membership you will need to meet the criteria laid down in Bye Law 4 May 2010.
(i) have graduated from a psychotherapy training course which meets all the requirements of Phase 1 of psychotherapy training specified by Bye Law 11 as necessary for eventual accreditation and membership of the Association. (In the case of applicants whose psychotherapy training course began before 1st January 2009 the required elements and hours of the course are those that are specified in Bye Law 10.);
(ii) have the intention of becoming accredited members of IAHIP and of meeting the requirements set out in Bye Law 11 (or, as relevant, Bye Law 10) for those completing the post-course practicum (i.e. pre-accreditation) period provided for in those respective Bye Laws of the Association;
(iii) are practising as a humanistic and integrative psychotherapist under regular supervision and are covered by a policy of insurance for professional indemnity risks;
(iv) consent to be governed by the IAHIP Code of Ethics and Practice and to be subject to the Complaints Procedure as if they were accredited members; (However, as they are not accredited members whose training and practice has been assessed and approved by the Association, nothing shall oblige the Association to respond to or deal with any complaint against a pre-accredited associate;
(v) provide recommendations from their current supervisor and from an accredited member of IAHIP. Annual Associate Subscription Fee €100.00.

3) Student Associate
In order to apply for student associate membership you will need to meet the criteria laid down in Bye Law 4. Application for the category of student associate is open to students who
(i) are pursuing a training course in psychotherapy that meets all the requirements of Phase 1 of psychotherapy training specified by Bye Law 11 as necessary for eventual accreditation and membership of the Association. (In the case of applicants whose psychotherapy training course began before 1st January 2009 the required elements and hours of the course are those that are specified in Bye Law 10.) (If the psychotherapy training course that an applicant is pursuing is not one that has achieved IAHIP recognition, an applicant may be asked to provide evidence to the Membership Secretary that the course he/she has completed meets this condition.)
(ii) can supply a letter of confirmation of student status from their training programme
(iii) agree to conduct their client practice as student psychotherapists in accordance with the IAHIP Code of Ethics and Practice for Psychotherapists; (However, as the Association disclaims any responsibility for either the client practice of students in psychotherapy training or the supervision thereof, nothing shall oblige the Association to respond to or deal with any complaint made against a student associate.)
