10 am – Session 1:
In this session, Marguerite will look at trauma in the context of it’s progression from coping mechanisms to severe DID
10.45 am – Session 2:
Secondary traumatisation and Self-care
This session discusses the difficulties faced by psychotherapists, psychologists, psychiatrists while working therapeutically with trauma sufferers, and in particular with DID. It looks at the importance of good boundaries and multidisciplinary support in working with dissociative disorders.
11.30 am – Break
11.45am – Session 3:
Working Therapeutically with DID
In this session, Marguerite discusses
- Internal system of the traumatised client with DID
- Working therapeutic with the different parts of the system
- Helping to build resilience in the client
- Adopting coping strategies to work effectively with both the main (host) personality and the many and varied parts of the internal DID system
1 pm – Lunch (a light lunch is provided as part of the workshop)
2pm – Session 4:
Severe Trauma – Clinical Issues and Challenges
Combining theoretical and clinical understanding from morning sessions, we continue to explore working with cases of severe trauma. This is then followed by small group discussion on live examples.
3.30pm – Plenary Session:
Attendees will be encouraged to discuss questions and observations from the day’s sessions.
