Movement and Ritual, 25th – 26th August, 2012 Carrowkeel, Sligo
Embodied movement, embedded in the landscape.
A workshop for those interested in movement as an expression for creativity, healing, mindfulness and as an art form. An opportunity to explore our ecological self, our constantly changing and be – coming selves in a landscape that is always changing as we move in it.
Carrowkeel is an ancient place and sacred site situated on the Bricklieve Mountains (Breach Shliabh – speckled mountains) in County Sligo. The location is particularly spectacular overlooking Lough Arrow with the 14 existing cairns located at different prominent positions on the landscape. The archaeology of the area dates to approximately 5,800 to 5,200 years ago.
Practising movement and ritual here at Carrowkeel offers an opportunity to explore and receive a heritage/sacred site directly through movement, embedded in the landscape and embodied in our walking, standing, and moving among the cairns. In this way the site does not become fossilised in time but can become the source of new life, creativity and prayer celebration.
In addition, as the site is re-enlivened by our embodied attention, so too can we be re-enlivened by its beauty and its history.
No previous movement experience is necessary to attend this workshop.
Cost for the 2 days, Saturday 10am – 5pm and Sunday 10.00am – 4.30pm is €180.
