Recognition of Prior Learning Policy
IICP operate a Recognition of Prior Learning Policy, and facilitate advanced level entry, whereby learners can gain access to the final year of our BA (Hons) Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. This type of entry is assessed on a case-by-case basis, following an academic audit.
Relevant Counselling and Psychotherapy Qualification at Level 7 or equivalent. In order that the learner obtains an exemption from earlier modules of the degree, candidates must be able to evidence that the learning outcomes from previous stages have been achieved on their previous counselling and psychotherapy programme.
Advanced Professional Practice:
This part time course will be of interest to anyone looking to build on their diploma in counselling & psychotherapy and obtain a BA (Hons) Degree. The course aims to enable learners to advance their level of professional practice through evaluation and review of progressive integration of theory and skills.
QQI validated BA (Hons) Level 8 Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.
RPL is assessed on a case-by-case basis. A minimum of seven modules costing €4,650 must be completed (an additional QQI registration fee of €200 also applies). Other modules or assessment of previous learning may apply. Information on RPL assessment fees can be provided.
Future Developments in Statutory Regulation:
Regulation for counsellors and psychotherapists in Ireland is currently under review. One element of the proposed change by the statutory regulation organisation, CORU, is the creation of a minimum standard of education required for practice. While CORU has yet to establish a registration board or set academic standards for therapy training, it is accepted that the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) will be utilised in such a process. The IICP RPL BA (Hons) Degree is mapped to Level 8 on the NFQ.
Commences: September 2017. The course is delivered on a one day per week basis, with a choice of either a Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday course.
